Putting up a volunteer role
on I-VOL
Supporting organisations in meeting their volunteer needs is a key focus of our work as a volunteer centre. You can list any volunteering role on I-VOL. Volunteers from all over Ireland can view and apply for any role available on the website.
When creating a volunteer role, consider the following:
- Post the role well in advance to ensure you have volunteers ready when needed.
- Provide a clear and concise description of the role, including details about the tasks, location, schedule (time and day), required skills, selection process, and any training involved
To post a role, go to Post a Volunteering Opportunity You will need your VCI code (ask us if you misplaced it) along with details related to the volunteer role you want to post.

Fingal Managing Volunteers Award (FMVA)
The Fingal Managing Volunteer Award (FMVA) is a collaborative effort between Fingal Volunteer Centre and Fingal County Council. It aims to promote exemplary volunteer management practices within community groups and voluntary organisations across Fingal and recognises the vital contributions made to improve the quality of life within communities.
Any organisation that involves volunteers in their work can apply for the Fingal Managing Volunteers Award. Organisations must be registered with both Fingal Volunteer Centre and Fingal County Council’s Community Development Office (PPN).
FMVA is awarded in December, if you want to entry this year, now is a good time to contact us for more information and get started.
Community Volunteers Program supporting your special events

Have you heard about Community Volunteers and how they support local groups with their special events?
On the day, our volunteer manager comes with a trusted team of community volunteers to support your event. Our volunteers can help with registrations, provide the public with information and directions, support an activity… specific responsibilities vary based on each event’s nature and needs.

ThrIVe – Involving Volunteers: Join Us in Creating Supportive Volunteering Environments for Displaced Individuals
Is your organisation looking for more volunteers? Our 2–3 months’ programme connects you with individuals from nearby International Protection Accommodation Centres, enabling people newly arrived in your community to contribute meaningfully and give their time to support your organisation while gaining valuable experience.
Our dedicated ThrIVe Officer will be working with you for the duration of the programme to assist with recruitment, training, mentoring and provide ongoing support.
By joining this initiative, your organisation will not only gain new volunteers but also promote inclusivity while benefiting from a diverse range of skills and perspectives.

National Volunteer Management Conference 2025 by Volunteer Ireland
The National Volunteer Management Conference is a yearly event dedicated to enhancing and enabling volunteering through the promotion of best practices in volunteer management.
The conference is designed for professionals and individuals involved in volunteer engagement whether in a paid or voluntary capacity in the Community & Voluntary Sector. The conference fosters meaningful connections and provides practical insights to strengthen volunteer programs and leadership.

Summit 2025 – Thriving Through Change by The Wheel
The Wheel’s National Summit for Charities, Community Organisations, and Social Enterprises will take place in May. This year’s theme, “Thriving Through Change,” focuses on empowering Non-profit and charity sector to proactively navigate an ever-evolving landscape.
Date: Wed, 28 May 2025 Time: 9.30am to 5.30pm
Place: Croke Park, Conference Centre, Jones’ Road, Dublin 3
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in member-led sessions, where peers will present their experiences and solutions to common challenges. Additionally, engaging break-out discussions will provide a platform to delve into shared issues, fostering collaboration and innovation. This event is open to all individuals involved in Ireland’s nonprofit sector, including organisational leaders, policymakers, staff, and volunteers.
