December Newsletter (2)

Newsletter December 2023

Hi Nilofar,

Welcome to our last newsletter of the year!

We hope that 2023 brought joy and meaningful experiences through volunteering to all of you, just as it did for us at Fingal Volunteer Centre.

In this newsletter we want to give you a snapshot of what happened in 2023.

Volunteering across Fingal in 2023

  • Over 1.000 people living in Fingal registered on the i-vol National Volunteering platform for the first time in 2023 to look for a volunteer opportunity.
  • Alongside the existing volunteers, they recorded over 22.000 hours of volunteering (and we do know that many more hours go unrecorded)
  • These hours were dedicated across diverse voluntary sectors, including health, environmental conservation, youth mentoring, accompanying, befriending, driving, social media management, board management, tutoring, and many more.
  • With a mix of local, in-person and remote roles, we hope everyone found their volunteering match.

Thank you everyone for your generosity in sharing your time and skills. Every hour is making a difference to the local communities.

Community Volunteers in 2023

Since our Community Volunteers program started in 2021, over 250 volunteers registered to be available for ad hoc community events across Fingal.

In 2023, we participated in 13 events across Fingal (and a few more beyond).
To name just a few of those events:

  • Planting trees in the Newbridge house estate in Donabate in January and March
  • Welcoming and assisting visitors in small & big festivals (Baldoyle BioSphere in May, Safer Together in June, Flavours of Fingal in July, Howth Maritime and Seafood Festival in September, Festival of Fire in October)
  • Supporting Sporting events (Sanctuary Run in September, UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup in November)

Thank you everyone who volunteered in any of those events, we could not have done it without you.
Thank you as well to our amazing volunteer photographers for capturing those events for us.

Our wish for 2024 is to continue to grow our network to offer you more volunteering opportunities in more events, and for everyone to have a chance to volunteer locally.

The Fingal Volunteer Centre team extends warm wishes for a joyous 2024 to all of you. We look forward to continue working with all of you in 2024. We are ready to support you in any ways we can in your volunteering journey.

Happy Volunteering!

Fingal Volunteer Centre team Aurore, Chiara, Julie, Nilofar, Ruth
and the Placement volunteers Desmond, Helena, Smit and Sepideh
