Supporting the elderly is a deeply rewarding way to contribute to your community. A wide range of volunteer opportunities exist to enhance the well-being of older adults, ensuring they feel valued and connected. Whether it is offering companionship or a friendly phone call, assisting with daily activities or household tasks, organising social events, teaching digital skills, providing transportation, or delivering meals and essentials, there are many ways to make a positive impact. Volunteering with the elderly also offers a unique chance to learn from their wealth of knowledge and life experiences, enriching both your life as a volunteer and the ones of those you help.

We have some exciting community events lined up for September, offering many ways to get involved and make a difference. Here is a quick overview:

Howth Maritime and Seafood Festival (7th & 8th September): A family-friendly event where volunteers will assist the public in the information booth, help direct visitors from Dart station to the event, hand-out children’s wristbands and assist with some of the event’s activities.

Mental Health Ireland Fundraising at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre (28th & 29th September): Volunteers will support fundraising efforts by greeting customers, hand-out flyers, provide information and answer questions.

Skerries Eco Festival (29th September): Volunteers will assist at an indoor event supporting Sustainable Skerries, manning an information stand and providing details about local art projects and competitions.

Interested volunteers can sign up via their Community Volunteer profile. Please ensure your availability before registering, as spaces are limited. Reach out to Ruth if you need any assistance!
