We are delighted to announce that Event Volunteers have been nominated for two awards; Fingal County Council’s Community Group of the Year Award and an ACE Active Citizens of Europe Award with VolontEurope which will be presented in Bucharest later this month.
Speaking at the announcement of the nominations, Stuart Garland of Fingal Volunteer Centre said “We are both excited and really proud of all of our hard working dedicated Event Volunteers who have given freely of their time for these events over the last year which has meant we’ve been nominated for these awards. To be nominated in our first year is a great achievement – well done to all our Event Volunteers, past and present.” Stuart went on to say “Being recognised at a local and international level for our commitment to acting as ambassadors for these events makes us as organisation extremely proud of our volunteers, it also recognises our ongoing commitment to providing the best support to our volunteers in achieving best practice in volunteer management”.
Event Volunteers is an initiative of Fingal Volunteer Centre and is supported by Fingal County Council’s Events & Emergency Management Unit. Event Volunteers encourages anyone aged 16 or over to volunteer in a wide range of public events in a supported and recognised manner. Our staff and volunteers are all experienced Volunteer Managers and have been involved in large scale volunteer involving events including; Dublin Tall Ships Festival 2012, NYE Dublin 2013, Malahide’s ÜberFest, Medieval Mayhem, Fingal Festival of Football, RSA International Cricket Match, Flavours of Fingal County Show and the World Police and Fire Games.
Event Volunteers is made up of over 110 volunteers from 19 different nationalities aged between 16 and 76. All of whom give freely of their time to volunteer at these fantastic events. What makes Event Volunteers different is their experience and training systems. All volunteers are trained and orientated before each event and all events have at least two volunteer managers on site to ensure that the volunteers receive the best support and recognition possible.
The Fingal Community Group of the Year awards will be presented at an Awards Ceremony in Draíocht Arts Centre in Blanchardstown on October 16. The ACE Active Citizens of Europe Awards will be presented in Bucharest, Romania on October 17. Best wishes to all our fellow nominees at both award ceremonies.
Event Volunteers is managed by Fingal Volunteer Centre, based in Blanchardstown and operated from 9 outreach locations across Fingal County. The Volunteer Centre is funded by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
