In response to reports of increasing incidents of Domestic Violence during the restrictions, Fingal Volunteer Centre has teamed up with Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Safe Ireland and other volunteer centres around Ireland to create CRiTiCALL – an initiative to support people emerging from domestic violence during the Covid-19 pandemic.

CRiTiCALL aims to provide support to help people in their journey to safety by offering practical resources along with comfort and encouragement from within the community including:

– Donations – purchasing much-needed items and dropping them off in Dublin 8 (Click here to apply);

– Volunteer your home – volunteer a holiday home or second property as a safe haven (Click here to apply);
– Letters of courage- sending letters and hope to those emerging from domestic abuse (Click here to apply).

In Fingal Volunteer Centre, we’re collecting stories about volunteers in action in county Fingal on our Volunteer Testimonials page:

Volunteer Testimonials.

Teresa, John and Ronan have been very kind in replying to our (short) list of questions providing us with an insight of what it means volunteering for them and how much it improved their lives in the past few months.

If you’ve been volunteering, we’d love to hear from you and maybe you could be the next one on our Volunteer Testimonials page!

We’ve partnered up with several nursing homes, both in county Dublin and county Fingal, for our Fingal Letter Campaign.

The idea is to recruit as many volunteeers as possible willing to post letters, drawings, poems or  whatever you can think of, to the residents of the nursing homes.

Would you like to take part in this project?

You might even decide to involve your small ones and ask them to be creative and prepare a drawing or something!

TEA AT 3!

Introducing Tea-At-3; a national weekly event that invites you to (appropriately!) check-in with your neighbours at 3 pm every Saturday.

Tea-At-3 is a physically distant activity that takes place from your doorstep, in separate gardens, over the phone or across a video call!

“The Tea-At-Three idea was originally created by Helen O’Hara and her neighbours in Rathbawn Drive, Castlebar, Co Mayo! We now want to bring it to communities across the nation”
