April focus on: Volunteer Drivers

Volunteer drivers play a vital role in keeping communities running smoothly.
Whether it is delivering essential items, providing transport for those attending hospital appointments, supplying hot meals to vulnerable individuals, or helping people access shops and services, the impact of volunteer drivers is wide-reaching.
Your support as a volunteer driver helps people live more independently and with dignity. You make daily life easier—and brighter—for those who need it most.
Along with a friendly smile and supportive attitude toward service users, volunteers interested in these roles must hold a valid driver’s license. For some roles, you need to have your own car so please make sure to read the roles description fully before you apply.

Our upcoming Community Volunteer (CV) events aim to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the power of volunteering.
Baldoyle Bay Biosphere Festival – 9th & 10th May
The Baldoyle Bay Biosphere Festival actively engages school students and the local community in memorable ways to learn about and participate in their local biosphere. On Friday 9th May the event will be exclusively for children (ages 10–12) from a local school, and on Saturday 10th May the event will be opened to the general public. Community Volunteers on the Friday will play a key role in guiding and rotating groups between workshops to ensure everything runs smoothly and on time. On Saturday 10th May the Community Volunteers will be stewarding at the event.
Fingal Volunteer Expo – 19th May, Grand Hotel, Malahide
At this exciting event, Community Volunteers will support the Fingal Volunteer Centre team with a range of tasks, including registering participating organisations, guiding attendees, distributing pamphlets, and helping the event flow smoothly from start to finish.
These events are a great way to get involved, support your community, and make a real impact. We’d love to have you on board!

FVC project: ‘Card making for Easter and Spring’

Following the success of our Christmas card-making initiative, we were thrilled to see the same excitement for our Easter/Spring ‘from home’ Card Making volunteer opportunity! We received over 15 lot of cards from creative volunteers who made the cards on their own or as part of a fun-filled card-making party (with family, friends or even colleagues).
Thanks to their efforts, over 100 beautiful handmade cards have been delivered to organisations in Fingal, bringing smiles to elderly individuals and people with mental disabilities who may be feeling isolated.
Volunteers got truly creative using everything from fancy paper, coloured pencils, ink, paint, felt, ribbons, stickers, and feathers, to googly eyes and pom-poms for the cutest bunny noses and tails! We also received original digitally- designed cards.
A huge thank you to all the kind and talented volunteers who made this possible—you truly brightened someone’s day!
