November focus on: Social Media & PR Volunteer Opportunities
Charities and community groups use social media to reach wide audiences, share their mission, highlight successes, and engage supporters in real time. Public Relations builds on this by strengthening credibility and fostering trust with donors, partners, and the community.
Volunteering in social media or PR offers hands-on experience while supporting meaningful causes. Roles are various and new roles are posted regularly. Roles can include creating content, designing graphics, managing social media accounts, being a board members with PR responsibilities…
Together, these roles enhance an organisation’s communications and give volunteers practical experience to grow their skills and careers.

Fingal Volunteer of the Year Award 2025 by Fingal Volunteer Centre

This year, we launched the Fingal Volunteer of the Year Award to recognise outstanding volunteers who go above and beyond in their roles and make a meaningful difference to the causes they care about. We invited all registered volunteer organisations in the Fingal area to nominate these exceptional individuals. The response was incredible, and selecting the shortlist required careful thought and consideration.
The names of the shortlisted nominees will be announced tomorrow Friday 28th November at 4pm on our Facebook page. Link below.
Christmas/ New Year Card Initiative

Our “Christmas and New Year Cards” initiative for isolated people kicked-off strong with already many cards received from individuals and groups in Fingal and beyond. Volunteers are crafting wonderful handmade cards that will be given to organisations in Fingal working mostly with people living alone.
Help us reach even more people this festive season—one card, one message, and one act of kindness at a time.
The cards can be dropped to us during our Library Pop-Ups (we will again visit every library in Fingal in December) or sent by mail.
The schedule of our visits to your local library is available on our website.
More information about this initiative is available on our website, link below :

Learning Through Volunteering Survey

Volunteer Ireland is working on a EU project focused on service learning and recognition of prior learning through volunteering in Ireland.
As part of this project, Volunteer Ireland is conducting a brief survey to understand how volunteers like you perceive the skills they have gained through their volunteering experiences and how they can express these skills.
The survey includes just six short questions and is written in plain English. We encourage you to take a moment to complete it and support the project before December 1, 2025.

Volunteer Centre Pop-up at a library near you

Library Pop-Ups has been a regular feature at the libraries across Fingal for a year now. The Library Pop-Up is a platform to meet with Fingal Volunteer Centre representatives at your local library, ask questions about Volunteering and get support in your volunteering journey.
You can now also drop your Christmas or New Year cards at any library during our next Library Pop-Up event. While you are there, feel free to chat with us about volunteering opportunities — we would love to meet you!
Check out our website for the schedule of Pop-Ups happening this month and find one near you.
