September focus on: Remote/ from home roles

Fitting volunteering into a busy schedule isn’t always easy. The “Volunteer from home role” section on I-VOL offers a practical solution, letting you support great causes without worrying about transport.
Organisations across Ireland are looking for volunteers in areas like social media, IT, administration, finance, tutoring, phone befriending, letter writing, translation, board governance, animal fostering…
While many roles allow complete flexibility to choose when you are free, a few have fixed times for phone calls or meetings, and some occasionally host in-person meetups. For most roles, you only need your own setup—such as a computer, phone, or crafting supplies – and the organisation will provide full training and ongoing support.
Some of the volunteer roles currently available on I-VOL include:
Computer based opportunities

Update on Volunteer Expo Balbriggan – CANCELLED:
We are sorry to inform that unfortunately we have to cancel the Volunteer EXPO this coming Saturday 3rd October. This is due to the “work to rule” industrial action by the Local Authority employees which is starting today.
Although we are not local Authority staff, the Our Balbriggan Hub (where the EXPO was to be held) has to be opened by a local Authority staff member.
We are sincerely sorry that the EXPO has to be cancelled at such short notice.

Irish Volunteering Index Survey

How can Fingal Volunteer Centre support you better?
What’s going well? What could be improved? What fresh ideas do you have?
We are taking part in the Irish Volunteering Index – a national study on volunteering by Volunteer Ireland and Bpact, to help us strengthen our organisation and better support our community.
Whether you are a volunteer or simply someone who cares about volunteering, you can have your say via an online survey. We will use the results to improve how we operate. Your response will also be included anonymously in the report for our local authority – so it makes a double impact!
Take part: every voice counts!
Complete the survey at Irish Volunteering Index and help make a difference. Last date is 30th October.
The Irish Volunteering Index is an initiative by Volunteer Ireland and Bpact, designed to support the public debate on volunteering and voluntary organisations. You can take part completely anonymously. Fingal Volunteer Centre has no input in it.
