THE LATEST NEWS FROM FINGAL VOLUNTEER CENTRE
Newsletter May 2020
we hope you’re keeping well.
We’d like to start our newsletter with a huge Thank you to all the people who are volunteering at the moment and giving their support in any way they can.
Delivery shopping, medicines to people who’ve been cocooning or making masks in your home, writing letters to nursing homes or just simply saying hi to your neighbours and letting them know they can count on you if needed… it all makes a difference and it’s possible because of you. Thank you!
Please find here a Thank you video to all volunteers in Ireland we created with Volunteer Ireland and all the Volunteer Centres:
We’ve designed a new Volunteer Testimonials page on our website where we captured successful volunteer stories and asked directly to volunteers how important volunteering is for them and how it has changed with this new Covid-19 situation.
If you’ve been volunteering please let us know, you might be our next Volunteer Testimonial!
Volunteer Ireland has launched a #volunteerfromhome campaign, encouraging people to volunteer from home during the current pandemic.
Please check below to find some Covid-19 related volunteer roles online or from home. Further down, you’ll find more general and long term roles.
We are working from home so to cover all applications and registrations. Our monthly Outreach programme in local libraries has been postponed until further notice.
Your safety and limiting the spread of the Coronavirus being the main priority, we continue to encourage you to adhere to HSE instructions on how best to avoid COVID-19, both in the work environment and at home.
You can select any role, view the full role description and apply for the role. Your application will come back to us here in the Fingal Volunteer Centre and a staff member will contact you to advise you on what happens next.
It’s important to note that not all volunteers who contact us will be assigned to a role. We are dealing with a large volume of volunteer registrations from people interested in helping so not all offers of help will be facilitated as the supply may be more than the demand.
There is also a possibility that none of the roles from this list might be suitable to you. We are currently working with a number of groups both in county and nationally and hope to have more roles where there is such a need.
Please check below for some Covid-19 related volunteer opportunities and some more long term opportunities.
General Long term Volunteer Opportunities
Please bear in mind that we’re constantly working with not profit and charity organisations and there will be more roles on I-VOL in the coming weeks.
Please let us know if you’ve been volunteering during this Covid-19 crisis and how was your experience. We’d love to learn more about your involvement and, maybe, collect your feedback and stories.

TEA AT 3!
Introducing Tea-At-3; a national weekly event that invites you to (appropriately!) check-in with your neighbours at 3 pm every Saturday.
Tea-At-3 is a physically distant activity that takes place from your doorstep, in separate gardens, over the phone or across a video call!
“The Tea-At-Three idea was originally created by Helen O’Hara and her neighbours in Rathbawn Drive, Castlebar, Co Mayo! We now want to bring it to communities across the nation”
