March focus on: Volunteer Drivers

The Volunteer Driver role is more than simply helping people travel safely from one place to another. It is an important role that supports many vital community services.
Volunteer drivers often help transport animals, food, meals, medical supplies, and other essential items that support people and communities in need. Many charities and community groups rely on volunteer drivers to deliver hot meals and food hampers to individuals who may be living with medical conditions or who are in isolation. These services supported by volunteer drivers give people a chance to live independently.
The basic requirement for this role is usually a full driver’s license, although some roles may require a specific type of license depending on the vehicle being used. Some charities or community groups provide their own vehicles and only need volunteer drivers, while others may require volunteers to use their own vehicles as part of the role. Make sure to read the details provided on the role details.
Volunteer roles currently available in this category include:
- Transport Volunteer – North Dublin with The Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland(CDPA) (North Dublin)
- Volunteer Driver – Dublin with Irish Cancer Society (Dublin wide)
- Volunteer Van Driver – Dublin City Area with Feed Our Homeless (Dublin 11)
