February focus: Summer Games 2026 by Special Olympics Ireland
Ireland’s largest inclusive sporting event returns from 18–21 June, as Special Olympics Ireland hosts four days of dynamic competition at the Summer Games 2026. More than 1,200 athletes will compete across 12 sports in a nationwide celebration of ability, determination and inclusion.
We are delighted to have been asked by Special Olympics Ireland to advertise their volunteer roles on I-VOL, giving you a chance to apply if you are interested.
Volunteer opportunities for different parts of the event are available — or will be soon — on I-VOL.
There is a planning and strategy team that manages the whole Games across all venues. They work with other volunteer coordinators, who then lead their volunteer teams to make sure everything runs smoothly throughout the event.
Volunteers will initially help online during the planning stage, working with other teams to get venues ready. During the Games (18th–21st June), volunteers will need to be at their assigned venue(s).
Venues – The Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin 15 is a major venue. In addition, competitions will take place in Dublin 8, Baldoyle, Clontarf, Coolock, Morton Stadium, Westmanstown Golf Club, and two venues in County Meath. More details about Venues
Volunteering at the Summer Games 2026 is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise, build new skills, and play an active role in delivering a major national sporting event.
More roles will be added in the coming weeks, including tasks on the event day itself.
Keep checking I-VOL for roles that interest you. Current volunteer opportunities can be seen here: Special Olympics Ireland
