2011 Pramerica Spirit of Community Award 2011 launched
Are you an outstanding youth volunteer? Do you care for an elderly neighbour or raise money for charity? Have you travelled to the developing world on a charitable mission? The fifth annual Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards – the only programme of its kind on the island of Ireland was recently launched.
Call for a European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteer - as of 1st February 2011. Deadline: 8 October 2010. CEV calls for applications for an EVS placement at the Secretariat of CEV in Brussels, starting desirably on the 1st February 2011 and lasting 9 months. Open to 18-30 year olds.
Blanchardstown Area Partnership needs more Community Representatives
Blanchardstown Area Partnership is recruiting new members for it's Plan Implementation Boards (PIBs).
Blanchardstown Area Partnership is the local development agency for the whole of Dublin 15. We receive our funding from the Government under the National Development Plan 2007-2013. The Partnership is responsible for a range of programmes to meet the needs of individuals, families and community groups in the area. These include the Local Employment Service (LES/JOBLINK), Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (incorporating the Community Development Programme)
Do The Right Thing, Overseas volunteer programme is on air on Tuesdays RTÉ Two
Lucy Kennedy and Baz Ashmawy present Do The Right Thing in which 70 aspiring overseas volunteers challenge themselves and each other in tests of leadership, adaptability, resourcefullness, robustness and organisational skills. In the end the choosen one will be invited to spend an exciting year as an overseas volunteer. It runs from Tuesday 7 September RTÉ Two for 8 weeks at 22:00hrs.
The North Dublin Befriending Service Ltd, is a registered charity 18020 , established as a pilot project by Mental Health Ireland. In 2007 the pilot project became a service. The North Dublin Befriending Service Ltd, is funded by the Health Service Executive Befriending people with mental health difficulties living in your own community. We recruit, train and match volunteers with a person with mental health difficulties. We also run three social clubs in Finglas, Blanchardstown, and Balbriggan.
Volunteer Centres Ireland and Minister Pat Carey launched a new online toolkit at the Wood Quay Venue, Dublin to address the fact that there is a shortage of interesting and relevant volunteer roles. 50,000 volunteers are registered with Volunteers Centres Ireland national online recruitment platform, But Charitable organisations are missing a chance, they are not creating relevant and suitable roles to tap into the demand that exists.Charitable organisations need help.

Share with us your achievements, challenges and enriching experiences. The commission will select two organisations working with volunteers in each European country.
The Ireland Involved Awards 2010 campaign was launched in late August, at Croke Park in Dublin. Claire Byrne, patron and host of the awards event was on hand for the launch with Christine Buckley, last year's Ireland Involved Award overall category winner. Ireland Involved is an awards scheme that makes a difference, showcasing the work of volunteers across the country and celebrating Ireland’s volunteers!
Gorta seek volunteers for Church Gate Collections in Howth (4/5 September)
Gorta have church gate collections in Howth – Church of the Assumption this coming weekend 4th/5th September. This is a first time for Gorta and we do not have any contacts. Also this weekend is St. Maur’s Parish and again some extra volunteers are needed. St. Maur’s, Rush. Co Dublin – Mass times. Sat: 7.30pm Sun: 9am Sun: 11am – in Loughshinney School. Sun: 12 noon. Main collection is after mass. Church of the Assumption, Howth. Co. Dublin – Mass times. Sat: 7pm. Sun: 8.30am, 10.30am, 12 noon. 7pm. Main collection will be after mass.
Balbriggan Youth Service is a Foróige managed project offering young people in Balbriggan an opportunity to participate in their community and develop life skills. The youth service is currently seeking volunteers to help run their youth cafés on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 7.30pm-9pm for young people aged 13+.

New figures released today (Wednesday 11 August) by Volunteer Centres Ireland (VCI), show that in the first half of this year, the recession continued to have a huge impact on the numbers of people registering to volunteer. Furthermore the profile of volunteers registering with volunteer centres has changed significantly since the recession.
St Patrick's University Hospital are recruiting volunteers

Today, St. Patrick’s University Hospital is Ireland’s largest independent, not-for-profit, mental health service provider. It aspires to provide the highest quality of mental health care, to promote mental health to advocate for the rights of those who experience mental illness.
Network of Volunteer Centres features on RTÉ News on 11 August
The network of volunteer centres and volunteering will be featured on the 9pm news this evening (Wednesday 11 August). It is on foot of a report about skilled volunteers. Yvonne McKenna, CEO of Volunteer Centres Ireland was interviewed, as were a number of volunteers.
